Dr. Anita Huang has over 20 years of experience providing pain relief using a combination of acupuncture, acupressure and herbal medicine. The ancient art of acupuncture has been used in Asia for centuries to treat many conditions and relieve pain. It's now being used in the United States and other Western countries to ease everything from low back pain, to nerve pain (such as painful shingles rashes), to headaches, fibromyalgia, and menstrual cramps — and more. According to the National Institute of Health (NIH), a number of studies suggest that acupuncture works particularly well on chronic pain such as back and neck pain; osteoarthritis/knee pain; and headache. It often reduces the incidence and severity of tension headaches and may prevent migraines. During your first visit Dr. Anita will go over your new patient form, you can fill it before your visit by downloading it from the website and bring it with you or you can fill it while you are at the clinic. To determine the type of acupuncture treatment that will help you the most, your practitioner may ask you about your symptoms, behaviors and lifestyle. He or she may also closely examine the parts of your body that are painful, The shape, coating and color of your tongue,The color of your face and the strength, rhythm and quality of the pulse in your wrist. This initial evaluation and treatment may take up to 90 minutes. Subsequent appointments usually take about 45 minutes. A common treatment plan for a single complaint would typically involve one or two treatments a week. The number of treatments will depend on the condition being treated and its severity. In general, it's common to receive six to eight treatments. Patients who must cancel an appointment, and are unable to provide a minimum of 24 hours notice, will be charged a cancellation fee of $30.
